Brookfield Barn, near Horsham, is a barn that actually delivers on light. High ceilings, an open structure, and a lake outside for the slow part of the afternoon. Carlotta and Ed's wedding had an Italian family on one side and an English one on the other, a long lunch and a band called The Stallions, and Carlotta said afterwards it was the best decision they made for the wedding. I take that.
Slaugham Place is a different Sussex, a ruined Elizabethan manor near Handcross with the walls standing and the sky for a roof. I filmed a wedding there in August 2026 and the film is in the edit.
West Sussex is the South Downs, flint churches, barns and the odd castle, all of it within an hour of London by train. East Sussex is Lewes, the coast and the Weald. I film across both and treat them as one county for the purposes of this page.
I'm Chris Oxley. I film weddings at country houses and private estates across the UK.
I started this because when I got married in 2015, we didn't have a videographer. I wanted to build something I wished had existed for us. Films that hold up years later. A real record of a real day, not a montage of prompted moments.
I handle the consultation, the filming, the edit, the grade, and the delivery. I film a limited number of weddings a year, and I'm personally at every one.

Sussex weddings I have filmed have been single-site days at barns or estates with the ceremony outdoors when the weather allowed and a plan B indoors. Church then barn is the other common shape, with the village church a few minutes from the venue.
Guests come down from London on the train or drive down for the day, and a good number stay over in Brighton or the Downs villages. The day starts around one and runs late.
The light on the Downs in high summer is long and warm, and the barns here are built to let it in.
Many wedding videographers arrive with a shot list. I don't. I arrive early, stay quiet, and pay attention. The film comes from what actually happens. I might offer the occasional quiet prompt when it matters, but I'm not staging moments or running through the same poses as everyone else.
I tend to work with couples based in and around London who want something honest. A real record of a real day. Not a highlight reel built from the same five moments as everyone else's.
I film fifteen weddings a year. That number lets me edit every film personally, respond to every email myself, and still show up fully present on your day. Every frame graded and cut by me. No outsourced editing. No house style.

If your ceremony is outdoors at a barn venue, ask where the indoor ceremony would be and have it fully set. The call gets made at breakfast.
Trains from London to Horsham, Haywards Heath and Lewes are frequent. Put the station and the taxi plan on the invitation and your guests will thank you.
Sussex barns in July are warm. Speeches before dinner, while the doors are open, film better than speeches at nine with the band waiting.
The Downs are minutes from most venues here. If you want a walk with the view, it is a short drive and twenty minutes, and it is worth it.
