Unique Aspects of Norfolk Wedding Videography

Norfolk is defined by water. The Broads are the dominant feature - rivers and lakes, with settlements on the edges. Converted churches (a Norfolk speciality) sit in villages that grew around waterways. Estate venues are waterside or water-visible. The county feels amphibious - water isn't just a feature, it's the landscape's primary element. A wedding videographer in Norfolk works with water light, reflections, and weather as fundamental elements.

The sky in Norfolk is enormous - flat land means nothing interrupts the horizon. Light bounces off water, creating brightness. Flint and brick buildings reflect this light. The Broads bring wind, weather changes, wildlife - herons, boats, the constant movement of water. Winter brings mist rising off the water. Summer brings heat haze. The environment feels elemental - less controlled, more subject to weather and water than any other venue region.

The Filmmaker

One person.
The full picture.

I'm Chris Oxley. I film weddings at country houses and private estates across the UK.

I started this because when I got married in 2015, we didn't have a videographer. I wanted to build something I wished had existed for us. Films that hold up years later. A real record of a real day, not a montage of prompted moments.

I handle the consultation, the filming, the edit, the grade, and the delivery. Fifteen weddings a year, and I'm personally at every one.

Why have a wedding in Norfolk.

Norfolk couples are typically 26-40, often from Norwich or East Anglia, or from London choosing something genuinely different. Many have family connections to Norfolk or are drawn to the Broads specifically. They understand water landscapes and are comfortable with weather being part of the day. They're often less formal than South East couples - they want films that record the actual, sometimes unpredictable nature of a waterside location. They value authenticity and are comfortable with imperfection.

The Difference

Your day first.
Your film, a close second.

Many wedding videographers arrive with a shot list. I don't. I arrive early, stay quiet, and pay attention. The film comes from what actually happens. I might offer the occasional quiet prompt when it matters, but I'm not staging moments or running through the same poses as everyone else.

I tend to work with couples based in and around London who want something honest. A real record of a real day. Not a highlight reel built from the same five moments as everyone else's.

I film fifteen weddings a year. That number lets me edit every film personally, respond to every email myself, and still show up fully present on your day. Every frame graded and cut by me. No outsourced editing. No house style.

The Best Decision for our Wedding

"We don’t even know where to start! Hiring Chris to shoot our wedding video was the BEST decision we made for our wedding. From the first meeting we had to discuss his style and approach, we knew we were on to the right person. Chris’ attention to detail is parallel to none."

Worth Every Penny

"We weren’t originally going to get a videographer but it was worth every penny. The whole day is so much to process that you forget bits after. Having this video to treasure forever was the perfect way to cure the wedding blues."

We Felt Completely Comfortable

"Before meeting Chris, we weren’t sure how to appear on film. After working with him, we felt completely comfortable, and he captured every organic moment we wanted."

EVERY BOOKING INCLUDES BOTH

Two films. One is the emotional hit - a film that puts you straight back in the room. As long as it needs to be, not a second longer. The other is the full day, preserved. Every usable moment I filmed, in order, so nothing is lost to the edit. The film brings you back. The archive lets you stay.

The Creative Piece

My edit, my instinct, my read of your day. Graded, set to music, no fixed runtime. Some films are five minutes. Some are fifteen. It depends on what unfolds.

Every usable, raw moment in the order it happened. One camera, one timeline. Not graded, not stylised. Just the full day, preserved. Nothing hits the cutting room floor.

Norfolk wedding planning tips.

Water creates brightness and shifting reflections - plan your ceremony positioning to use the water as a backdrop. Converted church venues are typically stone with high ceilings and tall windows - they're cold and spacious with natural light from above. Waterside venues have wind as a constant, so position sheltered gathering spaces away from exposed water edges. The Broads bring wildlife and insects - in summer, midges can affect outdoor gatherings. Weather changes quickly over water - mist, sun, cloud can shift within minutes, so build flexibility into your day plan.

Let’s Make Something Special

Norfolk venues are defined by water and sky. If you're marrying on the Broads or in a converted church, filming it properly means understanding that environment.
